As the continuation of “Jezikovanje 1” the St. Sava School and Stevan Jorgovic Library are organizing an intensive, interactive program “Jezikovanje 2” for learning of the Serbian language and the Cyrillic alphabet. The program is financially supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia (The Office for Cooperation with the Diaspora and Serbs in the Region) through the Open Competition for Partially Financing projects for diaspora (2021).
The goal of this project is to preserve the linguistic identity of the Serbs living in Montreal (Canada). The program is intended for children, youth, but also for those who want to learn Cyrillic and refresh their knowledge of the Serbian language. Depending on the age of the participants, the program is conceived as a combination of lectures, workshops, quizzes, online lessons with peers from several big cites in North America and Serbia. The program participants will learn Cyrillic, master the Serbian language, learn about important personalities of Serbian culture, science and history, strengthen their awareness of their national and cultural identity through a strong relationship with their peers, and foster the culture of their ancestors.
The St. Sava School and Stevan Jorgovic Library’s project “Jezikovanje 1” was financially supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affaires in 2019.
