In order to point to the protection and the importance of linguistic diversity and culture, the Organization for Education, Science and Culture of the United Nations (UNESCO) proclaimed the International Mother Language Day in 1999 on 21 February 1999. This data was selected as a reminder of the 1952 Bengali Language Movement in Bangladesh.
The mother tongue is a part of the cultural identity of the people, the point of recognition, diversity, and tolerance and understanding. Taking care of your mother tongue is a way of demonstrating the awareness of the cultural elite of the people about one's own identity.
