On September 12th we held an early celebration of The Serbian Unity, Freedom and National Flag Day.

The Divine liturgy began at 10 am followed by the commemoration of the victims of the Thessaloniki Front and then by a cultural program and lunch. Our guests were His Excellency Dejan Ralevic, Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia to Canada, His Excellency Marko Milisav, Ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina to Canada, and Mrs. Marina Gavanski-Zissis, Honorary Consul of the Republic of Serbia in Montreal.

On this occasion, His Excellency Dejan Ralevic visited our library and received an honorary membership card. Mr. Ralevic underlined the importance of our mother tongue for the preservation of our Serbian identity and cultural heritage. The libraries are playing an important role in preserving language, and therefore preserving national identity.
